The Institute for High Music Studies “Claudio Monteverdi” (ISSM Claudio Monteverdi) is a public Higher Edutional Institution (HEI) with related research activities and artistic production.
The Institute pursues the musical education at Professional level, the diffusion and growth of musical culture, the disclosure of the musical and artistic culture in all its forms through modern educational and cultural paths.
Integrated in a territory characterized by a long-time musical tradition, the Conservatory offers a rich and articulated training, that is capable of satisfy a wide range of needs through different possible educational trials:
- Academic Courses: Instrument (Piano, Organ, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass) and Voice for Bachelor (Level 6 EQF – 1st cycle) and Master (Level 7 EQF – 2 nd cycle)
- Instrument and Voice Preparatory Courses before the academic level
- Instrument and Voice Free Courses (they will not provide a diploma) for all ages.
Masterclass and laboratories are organized as complementary of the offered education. One of the latest is the Baroque Music laboratory, held by Sonia Prina, Gaetano Nasillo and Enrico Gatti, in order to promote new Ancient Music academic courses (Baroque Voice, Baroque Violin and Cello, Historical Cembalo and Keyboards) that will start next year.
The Conservatory is as well inserted in the international stage: from 2017 it has become member of the AEC, the European Association of Conservatory and in the Erasmus+ Program, in which have already been signed agreements with the Conservatory of Krakow, Valencia, Reykjavík and Tallinn, and others are under development.
Alongside the class activities, the Institute gives ample space to the artistic production by encouraging students’ performances as soloists, within ensembles or with the School Orchestra, thanks to the collaboration with institutions as Teatro Ponchielli, Museo del violin and other important realities in Cremona, and projects with Fine Arts Academy of Venice, Mantova Conservatory, FAI – Fondo Ambiente Italiano, Pavia University – Musicology Departement in Cremona and Bocconi University in Milan (MAMA Master of Management in Art and Music).
