Prof. Marco Malagodi is going to explain some of the secrets that science unvealed about the construction of stringed instruments….
After acquiring the new denomination of “Cultural District of Violin Making – Cremona”, the District has embarked on a process of approaching the local violin-making community with a direct involvement of craftsmen working in the territory. The main goals of this path are:
- consolidating and safeguarding the violin-making knowledge and know-how through professional education and continuing high-level training;
- consolidating the relationship between the university research Laboratories, the School of violin making and the violin-makers’ workshops: the so-called “widespread workshop”;
- increasing the opportunities for knowledge development through the study of the material heritage included in civic collections preserved at the MdV and through the production of an up-to-date catalog of the instruments belonging to the Organic-Didactic Museum of the International School of Violin Making;
- increasing awareness of the local context and knowledge at national and international level.
